The Department of Educational Leadership invites applications for a Department Chair who desires to continue building upon a nationally recognized graduate program in Educational Leadership.

The Department of Educational Leadership offers a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and a Doctorate of Education Degree in Educational Leadership.

The Master's Program in Educational Administration is a leader in preparing PreK-20 school administrators throughout South Texas, nationwide, and internationally. This learner–centered program prepares graduates to meet the challenges of school leadership positions such as campus principal, campus assistant principal, and central office administration. This program offers the master of science degree in Educational Administration and preparation for the Texas State certification exams for principal and superintendent.

The Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership enhances the leadership capabilities of professionals in leadership roles in schools, education districts, community colleges, or universities. The EdD is a scholar practitioner model offering two tracks: Education Leadership Specialization, or an Open specialization, which allows students to tailor the program to support individual professional development goals. The Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership is a consortium member of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate.

Position responsibilities may include evening and weekend work, distance education, a willingness to strengthen and expand links with the community and alumni, and commitment to participating in the planned reorganization of the department. The finalist for the position must reside in the Corpus Christi area.

Required Qualifications:

This departmental leader candidate must meet the following criteria to be considered:

Current academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, and eligible for tenure in the TAMU-CC College of Education and Human Development;

A doctorate degree in a field related to educational leadership, educational administration, or educational policy; Five years of public school leadership experience with a strong focus in teacher and leadership education and certification; A strong record of active research and leadership excellence; Effective leadership and a commitment to social justice for graduate student success within all programs of the Department;

Experience mentoring doctoral students and participating on doctoral dissertation committees;

Experience recruiting, supporting, and retaining ethnically and culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff;

Experience building and nurturing school, community, and university partnerships. Knowledge and coordination of Principal and Superintendent Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current academic appointment as a Full Professor.

Experience with department accreditation and/or program review process.

Familiarity with Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards.

Familiarity with implementation of the principles associated with the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED).

Experience integrating technology in the classroom and fostering student competency. Successful grant writing experience and administration.

Experience with online course development and teaching.
