Role and Responsibilities This role is part of YouthBuild, a non-profit program that teaches GED, Construction Skills and Life Skills to at-risk youth. The position consists of the following core responsibilities: Classroom Teaching: NCCER Core Curriculum OSHA 10 Hour Certification Leadership American Government First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Lab Training: NCCER lab assessments (Performance Profiles) Teach tool familiarity and safety to students prior to field work Manage and maintain tool crib and consumables rack Develop and teach lab exercises to increase knowledge of construction techniques Field Management: The construction teacher will take youth to job sights and oversee new home building construction or the remodeling of existing homes to their completion. Manage and mentor youth while teaching practical application of classroom curriculum at the job site. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment. They will be responsible for the youth conduct at all times. Will be responsible for meeting all regulations set out by our build partner and all inspectors. Will ensure all safety precautions are followed at all times. Coordinate schedule with current project partners Develop and maintain partnerships with external build partners Qualifications and Education Requirements Must be able to obtain NCCER certification Must have experience and education required to obtain OSHA Authorized Trainer Certification Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer Certification Must have extensive new home and rehabilitation experience Must have construction supervisory experience Previous experience working with youth preferred
